Mission Statement

BritInn is an interdisciplinary academic network at the University of Innsbruck, designed to promote and support joint research projects especially between early-career researchers of both Great Britain and the University of Innsbruck. BritInn was established as part of the internationalization effort of the University of Innsbruck and aims at supporting international research at Innsbruck, Tyrol and Austria in general.

Why Great Britain

Cuts in research funding, especially under the looming Brexit, pose unprecedented challenges to the academy and future collaborations between researchers based in Great Britain and Austria. These challenges have inspired us to create this network to facilitate exchange between scholars from both countries. The launch of BritInn is also a political gesture. It aims to assure researchers that academic ties between the two countries will remain strong.

BritInn wants to make research activities conducted between the University of Innsbruck and research institutions in Great Britain more visible. With BritInn, we aim to foster and support international mobility and research activities of researchers - in particular, early-career researchers - that contribute to sustainable research collaborations.
